How a monthly rental runs in Athens

Why the monthly price is a different animal
A rental company's costs concentrate around handovers: cleaning, inspection, admin, the empty days between customers. A month-long contract removes thirty of those days from their risk, and the saving flows back into the rate. That is why a monthly quote in Athens lands far below the same car priced day by day, with the gap widest in winter when tourist demand disappears.
Season decides more than length. The city car that lists around €25-55 per day in the July fleet becomes dramatically cheaper as a November-to-March monthly contract, and suppliers openly prefer the guaranteed winter income. If your stay is flexible, quoting October and November instead of September can move the total noticeably.
For stays past two or three months, ask about the mileage allowance rather than assuming unlimited kilometres carries over: long contracts often set a generous monthly cap instead. If your plans include weekly Peloponnese trips, say so and get the allowance in writing.
